climate neutral [10 Nov 2006|02:28am]
tonight was a good night.

it's been a while since i've smiled this much. jimmy pointed that out. jimmy should narrate my life, always. i know it's all a big joke, and just a bunch of self-important kids with business cards and personalized padfolios, but everyday i go to bed i can't believe this is my life. i think i'll reflect pretty fondly on this year, and hopefully i'll actually get something accomplished. the sustainability fee at least. i never thought i'd ever create a $400,000/yr revolving loan fund trust account for climate neutrality in a billion years, but i'm going to this year if it kills me. i dont know if i'm happy right now. i'm probably not, but at the same time it's not really an issue. when this year ends, it's all over. everyone says to keep my options open, but i can't do that to myself. the extent to which i'd have to compromise myself is completely unimaginable. this is my life, and i want to live it. i'll be the first one to say that i sleep myself into corners and that i can get belligerent when i'm drunk, but what college student shouldn't be afforded the one opportunity to do that appropriately. and it's not just that. i'm not about to let some student-run political party at cal dictate who i am, and who i'll never be. i'm not going to lose myself so soon.

i could have gone to a climate change summit with gore and newsom tomorrow, but i'm going to sleep in and get brunch at le zinc. yes, that is an accomplishment i'm beginning to embrace.

i don't like you, but i'll let you in. [07 Nov 2006|03:26am]
eventful weekends just make awful mondays.

it's been a while since i've had such an interesting weekend. i haven't been able to move without crying out in pain since i woke up friday morning after a night of frat jungle juice, racial slurs, and reckless online shopping. seeing everyone at my house on friday since forever ago was pretty amazing, so was evacuating my friend's party and calling the police only to find out that there was no fire and someone had just put off the fire extinguisher. at least for the couple minutes it took to get out of the building i had the first legitimate and appropriate emotion in a while. suspected fires will do that i suppose. but i guess the weekend really boils down to seeing people jiggle their titties on a pole that i have class with. watching the nerdy japanese boy from class who doesnt speak english strip is awkward too.

i skipped out on all my responsibilities today, got drunk, and did nothing. now i'm just watching caroline make eggs.

and after all the reflection that posting on lj affords me all i can think about is the fact that i didn't go to ficomm today because i forgot i had a bill on the floor and it failed and now one less student group has asuc sponsorship because i'm irresponsible. yep.

edit: and i saw will and it was amazing, and beautiful, and magical, and chorizo filled fun!

time for a digital clock [09 Oct 2006|11:25am]
last night i wrote a thesis that said the russian revolution had not yet taken place in 1920. who am i?

for the third time in a row i woke up myself up frantically thinking it was the wrong day. i've been waking myself up thinking i've missed some meeting that didn't exist. in a way, i guess it's a good thing i have this focus back in my life. but i miss the days when i didn't wake up until the sun came in (which happens around 2pm since i live in a deep dark hole), and i could laze around and never have enough eggs for breakfast when whether it was appropriate to make breakfast or lunch was actually a serious concern.

oh well.

thoughts from the kitchen floor [05 Oct 2006|02:47am]
it's 2:45 am approximately, and i've just returned from a senate meeting that started at 7pm. that's right, a 7 1/2 hr meeting. i guess i asked for it.

i'm not even tired. my mind is just mush and i feel awful and will probably get deemed racist by the daily cal tomorrow morning. i know i believe in what i said. i mean it wasn't exactly a comment that requires that much conviction, but it was terrible timing on my part. parliamentary procedure is a joke.

i would just like to clarify that i am not racist, but i do not enjoy being fucked with and disrespected like that. nobody wants to hear about this senate bullshit, but dont be surprised if i get torn to pieces tomorrow. i guess i said it myself during the meeting, "you win some, you lose some."

at least this really shifted the focus in my life again. i probably needed this.

on another note, i fucking hate the rain because it chases bugs inside the house. not just bugs apparently, because i just spent 10 minutes chasing a lizard out of my room. i sprayed it with windex. whatever. i dont care!

goodmorning.

los angeles i'm still yours [11 Aug 2006|12:09am]
so after spending most of my summer bitching about my job and hating how much some people have changed, i'm going to miss la again. i've spent the past couple days at the beach, the beach club, the most absurd private club that has a pool literally 10 feet away from the ocean, and shopping. i know, doesnt it all sound terribly frivolous? but it's been fun, and it's what i should have been doing all along. the $5 bins at the marc jacobs store on melrose and a bad acoustic set at the pig 'n whistle on hollywood are surprisingly satisfying.

worst schedule ever, among other things )
